MHUPA – Rs. 71.4 Lakh Approved to Build Affordable Houses in Goa

Center has approved a proposal for construction of affordable houses in Panaji, Goa by sanctioning about Rs. 71.4 lakh for Goa Housing Scheme. MoHUPA (Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation) has decided to construct houses in 14 towns of the state under Housing for All mission. Centre has also issued fund to form a State-Level Technical Cell & Housing for All Plan of Action (HFAPoA). This fund will also be used to construct affordable housing units in selected areas. A fix amount will be used for a selected municipality or town.

State-Level Technical Cell
This cell includes 10 professionals, Urban Planners, Environmental Specialists, Urban Infrastructure Specialists & Public-Private Partnership Specialists for planning & implementing PMAY.

In the first installment, Rs. 55.16 lakh has been provided, out of this Rs. 3.94 lakh will be spent over construction in each town by Union Minister. A government official said that for the first installment, Rs. 8.10 lakh has already been provided in month of June.

For FY 2017-18, Centre approves Rs. 21.6 lakh under PM Awas Yojana-Urban. Out of this Rs. 16.20 lakh will be given by Union Minister for the formation of State level Technical Cell & rest of the amount will be given by State Government.

Nodal Agency have to provide physical & financial report of the progress of project while State Government has responsibility to use amount for construction of houses in Panaji, Goa.

Second installment will be released after presenting all details of expenditures for the said project.
Thus this housing project is expected to provide affordable housing units to each needy family in Panaji, Goa to make Housing for All Mission a huge success.
